The story

A whole day, and an empty island

Snorkelling off the ochre cliff of Tintamarre

Tintamarre is an uninhabited nature reserve, an hour's sail from Grand-Case. No road, no beach bar, no electricity: pale sand, turquoise water, and turtles passing under the hull.

We anchor there for the middle of the day. Sophie serves lunch on board, at a table, not out of a box — that is the difference between a day at sea and an excursion. The afternoon goes on swimming, paddleboarding, or doing nothing at all.

On the way back we stop at Créole Rock, the best snorkelling water in Saint-Martin, before running into Grand-Case in the late afternoon. The boat takes up to 10 people and sails for your group only.

How it unfolds

How your day unfolds

All routes are subject to weather and sea conditions. Kharim always chooses the safest and most beautiful route available.

  1. Boarding — Grand-Case, 9 am

Welcome at the jetty and transfer on board, safety briefing, a snack and cold drinks. We cast off in the morning light, while the sea is still flat.

  2. Snorkelling at Créole Rock

A few minutes under way, Créole Rock stands as a limestone islet in the middle of turquoise water. A protected nature reserve, and a well-known site: shallow seabed, exceptional clarity, abundant marine life.

  3. The turtles of Anse Marcel

With its calm water and seagrass beds, Anse Marcel is one of the best places in Saint-Martin to watch sea turtles in peace.

  4. Sailing to Tintamarre

About an hour under way: we follow the wild coast and round the point, and the island appears, alone and imposing, in the middle of the ocean.

  5. Anchored off Tintamarre

We anchor off the beautiful Baie Blanche beach. On the programme: lunch of fresh local produce cooked on board, snorkelling with the turtles, the underwater Japanese garden, and a walk ashore on the trail of the island's unusual history.

  6. Back to Grand-Case

Around 3.30 pm we hoist the sails for a downwind run home. Nothing to hear but the wind in the sails, the bows in the swell and the gulls overhead. Back ashore around 5 pm.

Creole Rock, Happy Bay, Tintamarre. Turtles under the hull, and nobody else at anchor.

Lunch is cooked on board. Masks and fins are aboard. Up to ten of you.

Catamaran Zéphyr. Your private cruise, from Saint-Martin.

The day that on its own justifies having a boat to yourselves

Tintamarre, to yourselves

An uninhabited nature reserve: no road, no buildings, no beach bar. On a weekday it is not unusual for yours to be the only catamaran at anchor in the cove.

Lunch, not a lunchbox

Sophie cooks fresh local produce on board and serves at a table, at anchor. It is very often that moment guests remember most from the day.

Two moods, two different waters, one pleasure

The Créole Rock reserve and the seabed at Tintamarre: two snorkelling sites with distinct characters, for a complete and varied time underwater.

Eight hours that are yours

No fixed schedule, no other passengers, no countdown on the beach. You head back when the day is done, at your own pace.

100% private

The whole boat, your group, and nobody else.

Certified captain

Capitaine 200, CE category A vessel, zero incidents.

Tailor-made route

The route is decided with you, by the day's sea.

Owner crew

Kharim and Sophie live aboard. It is their home.

The questions we are asked

Questions about the full-day cruise

Is the price per person?

No. 1 200 € in low season is the whole boat with its crew and lunch, for 4 guests. Each additional guest joins for 108 €, up to 6 additional guests — 10 people on board at most.

Do we always go to Tintamarre?

That is the usual route, and the finest. But if swell works in from the east, Kharim picks a sheltered anchorage elsewhere rather than serve you an uncomfortable day — the sea decides.

What's for lunch?

A meal cooked on board from fresh produce, served at anchor. Dietary needs, allergies, children: tell us in the notes field and Sophie will work around it.

Can we go ashore on the island?

The island is reachable from Zephyr by snorkelling, swimming or paddleboard. Tintamarre is a reserve: we leave nothing and take nothing, not even a shell.

What if someone gets seasick?

A catamaran barely heels, which makes a large difference. The crossing lasts an hour, and the rest of the day is spent at anchor in calm water.
