We live aboard Zephyr, our catamaran, and have been welcoming guests since 2008 — first at a four-star guesthouse in the Médoc, then in the Caribbean since 2020. Three transatlantic crossings and an absolute standard on safety mark our course. Choosing Zephyr means coming aboard with us for something genuine, thought through with heart, skill and calm.

Sophie
Sophie cooks on board. Not a tray passed over the rail: a table, laid, at anchor, with whatever the market gave that morning.
On a day charter that means lunch served at the table and the canapés she makes that same afternoon. On a week at sea it means three dinners, three breakfasts and a lunch, with no set times — there is no reason to have any.
It is what guests mention most often afterwards, ahead of the anchorages themselves.

Kharim
Kharim has been sailing the Caribbean since 2020. Before the boat there was telecoms, from 2001, then the guesthouses in the Médoc from 2008 — that is where he learned to host. Zephyr is not a boat he was handed for the season: they own it, and it is where he lives.
What that changes for you is small and constant. He reads the sea and the wind the day before, and picks the sheltered side. If Tintamarre will not hold that night, he says so before you leave and offers another anchorage — he will not sail a printed programme into a swell just to keep it.
The route follows the sea of the day, never the other way round. It is the only promise a skipper can honestly make.
At sunset he mixes the cocktail himself and carries it forward, onto the trampoline.
From Bordeaux to the Caribbean
Hosting, since 2008
This did not start with the boat. In 2008 Kharim and Sophie opened a 4-star guesthouse in the Médoc, in the Bordeaux wine country. Twelve years of welcoming people, cooking for them, and looking after guests who had come to their home to rest.
In 2020 the home became a catamaran. What did not change: they own it, they live on it, and you are still a guest in their house.
A crew that lives aboard knows the boat differently: what creaks, what gets fixed before it breaks, which anchorage holds in which wind. None of that is on a spec sheet.
It is also why there is only ever one group on board at a time. You are not the second rotation of the day.
